Alert: Florida Officially Closes "Bars, Pubs, and Nightclubs"

Update: The Department of Business and Professional Regulation published an extremely helpful FAQ on the shutdown on March 18. Click here for a copy.

The Governor’s executive order (pdf) closing all “bars, pubs, and nightclubs” is here, and here’s what it says:

[A]ny licensee is authorized to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises that derive more than 50% of its gross revenue from the sale of alcoholic beverages shall suspend all such sales for thirty days… effective at 5 p.m. today, March 17, 2020.

The order also includes important guidance for food service establishments:

  • Restaurants must immediately limit occupancy to 50% of current building capacity.

  • Restaurants must follow CDC guidance by ensuring a 6+ foot distance between patrons and limiting parties to 10 or fewer people.

  • The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is in charge of ensuring that all restaurants implement employee screening, including barring employees that meet a listed set of criteria (see below).

Stay safe out there! We’re all in this together. - TG
